The Massenez Distillery is located in Dieffenbach-au-Val, in Alsace . It was created in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Massenez a home distiller. In 1913, his son Eugène Massenez distilled wild raspberry for the first time; this brandy was appreciated by the Queen of Sweden, and the distillery became the official supplier to the court of the King of Sweden. Gabriel Eugène, the third generation, is developing the distillery's reputation by associating with haute cuisine alongside star chefs like Bocuse and refined restaurants such as La Tour d'Argent. A new distillery was opened in 1979 to meet their strong growth. The brand has since expanded to 110 countries and diversified its product range. In 2010, Distilleries Massenez joined forces with Great Distilleries Peureux . Bernard Baud, President of Grandes Distilleries Peureux, on the other side of the Vosges and famous for its Griottine, has breathed new life into Distillerie Massenez while preserving the DNA of the Maison.

The liqueur Golden Eight is part of the "Les Trésors Massenez" range; unique creations, symbols of the craftsmanship of the master distillers of the distillery for 150 years. This pear liqueur is enhanced by a pear brandy from Massenez that is over 8 years old.
